15) Artist Profile: Luciano Matias Dominguez

I really like Luciano's photos for the same reason I really like Christopher Vaughn's photos. They both use film cameras and both take a lot of vernacular photos. Vernacular photography is photography taken without a purpose. These often include things such as holidays photos, photos of friends, parties ect. I really like these as they are a representation of a moment in time rather than a piece of art using photography as a medium. I feel camera's most powerful tool is capturing a moment in time, I feel paintings or films can't get the truest representation as they take a while to produce, whereas a photo is literally a frame of time.

This is one of my favourite shots of hers due to the excellent lighting and range of tones.  I find if a photo has good lighting and colours then you can make an subject matter appealing. The messy clutter of objects on the table can be used to interpret what she was doing the night she took the photo. From first glance you could assume that she just had a few friends over for drinks and that's why there's multiple empty glasses, one being a pink glass.
